It's the city of books, known throughout Britain for its many bookshops. Second-hand books, Welsh books, you name it, you'll find it! It's been a bibliophile's paradise since Richard Booth opened the first second-hand bookshop here in 1961. Today, there are more than thirty! Every corner of the town is devoted to books, even the old cinema. So it's only natural that in the last week of May, the town hosts the Festival of Literature, which attracts crowds from all over the UK. During this week, the already beautiful city lights up! Not to be missed!Richard Booth, a maverick and rebel, gave the city a special atmosphere. In the 1960s, he introduced a passport for residents... From this period remains a desire for detachment from English and Welsh institutions: the tourist office is not attached to the national network, and some hotels refuse to be classified by the Welsh Tourist Board!
