Llanthony, located in the long, deep Ewyas Valley in the heart of the Black Mountains, is a small village known primarily for its Augustinian monastery, Llanthony Priory. The building is considered to be one of the most remarkable in medieval Wales. To get there, from Abergavenny, take the A465 for about 8 km. Turn left at the village of Llanvihangle Crucorney and take the first left after the Skirrid Mountain Inn. Follow the road for about 8 km to the monastery. The village side lost in the middle of the Welsh countryside with its rolling hills adds a special charm to the location.
