The archipelago consists of 7 islands that gironde from the bay of Sagami, south to the islands of Ogasawara. The characteristic characteristic of these islands is their volcanic activity. The seven islands are Ōshima, Tonejima, Nii-jima, Kōzu-shima, Miyake-jima, Mikura-jima, and finally Hachijō-jima.
