This national park is located northwest of Tōkyō and northeast of Kōfu. It is divided into two distinct sections: Chichibu and Okutama, in two parallel valleys. This 121,000-hectare park was established in 1950 to provide what would become the greenbelt of the Tōkyō area. Walkers will find bucolic places, but also beautiful steep valleys pierced with caves, covered with vegetation that takes on flamboyant colors during the fall. The landscapes are sublime. Fishermen or camping enthusiasts come here to get some fresh air and escape the stress and bustle of the Japanese capital.
