Petit Futé's opinion on UNIVERSAL STUDIOS
The famous Universal Studios alone deserve a full day. Don't forget to check the website for schedules that vary according to the month of the year. Book your tickets online and open the park to enjoy the attractions even more! Adults and children alike will love visiting Universal's studios, but real movie lovers will find it more enjoyable to visit the Paramount Studios, where you can see shoots in action, because Universal Studios has become an amusement park. We find the great myths of yesterday and today, from the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park to King Kong, from E.T. and Jaws to Les Dents de la mer, but above all The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, a dive into the universe of the most famous sorcerer's apprentice, in a more realistic reconstruction of the film's settings. If Universal Studios today looks like an amusement park, with roller coasters, restaurants and gadget shops, the instructive interest of the studios is still there, but in the form of a show inside which we walk, in Universal's little train. This is the first and most interesting visit to the park: take the Backlot Tram Tour, and set off on a 45-minute spectacular journey through the legendary scenery of cinema. The circuit takes place in the authentic studios where the greatest films were shot: today, they mainly shoot films for television. Be careful, make sure to check the departure of the last train according to the opening hours of the park.
Don't forget to take pictures: around the bend in the street, you'll probably meet Homer Simpson, a Minion or - who knows? Harry Potter himself!
Studio Tour. Take a behind-the-scenes look at the most legendary Hollywood movie scenes by strolling on the largest set in studio history. From Wisteria Lane and its cozy atmosphere to the special effects of The fast & the furious and the terrible King Kong 360 3-D, entertainment is guaranteed. This visit is included in the visit to the amusement park. It allows you to discover, on 17,000 m2, the behind-the-scenes of the largest productions of Universal Studios, whose origin dates back to 1915. Comedian Jimmy Fallon is your virtual guide thanks to the video screens at your disposal all along the route. The tour includes, among other things, the King Kong 360 3D attraction created by Peter Jackson, the plane crash of The War of the Worlds, a face-to-face meeting with Norman Bates (the murderer of Psychosis) and a terrifying encounter with the Jaws shark (Jaws). As you will have understood, this is more of an attraction than a real discovery of the mysteries of the Seventh Art.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. The park's flagship attraction is well worth the publicity it has received. Admittedly, it's simply magical and you wouldn't be surprised to meet Harry Potter or one of his friends there, as the frame does justice to the universe of the adventures of J. K. Rowling's hero. You will stroll through the streets of the village of Pré-au-Lard, take a short walk to Ollivanders where you will surely find your ideal magic wand, then enter Hogwarts Castle to follow Harry Potter in a wild chase in Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. Strong sensations at the appointment (abstain if you have virtual reality effects that tend to make you nauseous).
Transformers The Ride-3D. Embark on a spaceship alongside Optimus for a battle against the evil forces of the Decepticons. The experience is breathtaking, between reality and science fiction and the future of the human race is in your hands. Based on Michael Bay's film saga, Transformers The Ride-3D is a real technological achievement and symbolizes the next generation of attractions.
Jurassic World - The Ride. Try to escape from hungry dinosaurs on a crazy rafting trip, thrills guaranteed! A large waterfall closes this trip among the dinosaurs. The attraction has aged a little bit but will delight the younger ones.
Revenge of the Mummy - The Ride. To escape the Mummy's anger, prepare yourself for some serious surprises amidst impressive special effects. Yes, you'll have to do your best if you want to get out of this roller coaster adventure unharmed.... Good luck!
The Simpsons Ride. Let's go to Springfield! Marge and Omer take you and the whole Simpson family on a wild ride to the Crustyland carnival where not everything will go as planned... and for once, it's not Bart's fault. So buckle up and... eat a doughnut, why not? But don't worry, you won't have your head upside down: it's a simulator (like Harry Potter, this ride is not recommended if the 3D and VR effects make you nauseous).
Waterworld. Based on the film of the same name, the most prodigious of all marine and pyrotechnic shows takes place before your eyes with the craziest stunts ever performed by experienced actors, who also perform in musicals in Los Angeles. Watch out for the wave!
The Walking Dead Attraction. Get ready to shake in fear and scream in terror as you walk in the middle of a post-apocalyptic hospital, overrun by zombies ready to jump on you.... The most "analogous" attraction in the park and probably the most delightfully terrifying.
Despicable Me - Minions Mayhem. Experience a crazy adventure in the middle of the Minions in the Gru laboratory!
Super Silly Fun Land. This colourful world, which encourages children to play like Minions in a world of slides and water games, will delight the youngest.
