The particularity of this place is that you will never find the door closed. Since 1924, the institution has never ceased its activity, day and night. Most servers, exclusively male, have been there for 20 years or more, and are an integral part of the site. A kind of large family canteen, with all that this entails positive: a good classic kitchen, served generously… It follows naturally that the Pantry has some records of consumption: for example, 20 steers per day are needed to satisfy the demand for steaks! Moreover, the menu changes every day. Their motto: Never closed, never without a customer, "Never closed, never without a customer".

A very classic spot, with shockingly cheap fare. I really enjoyed the sourdough, it’s the best bread I’ve had at any restaurant, hands down.

I ordered the No. 3 with eggs, pancakes, bacon and potatoes. Everything tasted fresh and good and even the coffee is good! Don’t expect to not be a little greasy, but this place is a winner! Very big lines outside waiting but because I was on my own I got a seat at the counter. Highly recommend.

Located in downtown LA, parking is misleading since they tell you to validate in the restaurant. No such thing. Just gives you discounted parking, to top it off they don’t take cards. There is a line to get in. I ate alone so i did get in sooner by sitting in the bar. The stools are hard metal on hard plastic, very uncomfortable, My butt fell asleep. The staff is very friendly and polite. The food is very tasteful and fresh. I recommend the ham omelet with hash browns. The location is old and dated but works for the ambiance. If in the area and don’t mind the wait, I say go.
