12 km north of Ostend, in the middle of the dunes, Le Coq is a delight for families and aesthetes, as the town has changed little since the 1930s. The site is classified, so there are no high rise concrete buildings along the dyke and in the sandy alleys of the resort, but villas surrounded by gardens, as well as a nice streetcar station with its Belle Époque façade. It is a rather chic resort, where space and calm prevail. You can easily go for a walk in the dunes in the direction of Blankenberge. The 18-hole golf course also attracts greens lovers.
