Perched at 650 m above sea level, in the eastern part of the Pollino National Park. As its name indicates, the village is an ancient Albanian foundation from the 16th century. This community would have found refuge in the Rubio valley, in the monastery of Santa Maria di Sectara, and would have been forced to leave because of differences with the monks concerning the Greek liturgy. The Arberèches have preserved the customs of their native land. In the main church, the Greek rite is still used. In the village there is also a small museum of the Arberche culture, which is interesting to know better this ethno-linguistic minority (via Demostene, 3).
