Famous in the past for its strong tradition of craftsmanship, especially in the art of cutlery, Avigliano is a charming stopover to fill empty stomachs. The town has a number of good pastry shops where you can taste the traditional Aviglianese tarallo, a tarallo glazed with sugar. The other culinary speciality of Avigliano is the baccalà, which every year in August becomes the main ingredient of a local festival(sagra) where it is cooked in the "Ciauredda" style, that is to say with lots of onions, tomatoes, chilli, parsley and olive oil. From an architectural point of view, some beautiful historical palaces with carved stone porches stand out.
