The most representative testimony of the Aragonese architecture of Pudlia is found in this small bourgado about ten kilometers east of Lecce, towards San Cataldo. It is also the only example of the fortified city in southern Italy, leaving free of the vagaries of history and retaining its Renaissance foundations.
