Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1980, Durmitor is a mountainous region with landscapes of striking natural beauty. With an area of 32,100 ha, the park includes the Durmitor mountain range and the valley formed by the canyon of the Tara River. The park is sparsely populated, but in recent years it has attracted hikers, skiers, mountaineers and outdoor sports enthusiasts. Dominated by Mount Bobotov Kuk (2,522 m), the Durmitor massif has 48 peaks over 2,000 m. Also crossed by several canyons (Tara, Sušica, Komarnica), it is the favourite playground of white water sports enthusiasts.
