Covering more than 6,400 ha, the Lovćen massif consists of two peaks: Štirovnik (1,749 m) and Jezerski Vrh (1,657 m). The one nicknamed the "Mount Olympus" of Montenegrins houses the remains of the country's greatest figure, Petar II Petrović Njegoš (1813-1851). Located in the middle of the park, the site offers a unique view of the country with the Adriatic Sea on one side and on the other a real "sea" of rocks extending to infinity. Lovćen is also a nature reserve of more than 1,500 animal and plant species - such as the Montenegrin beech or the Bosnian pine, at the meeting point of mountain and Mediterranean climates.
