We are a Tour Operator in Santa Marta and the Caribbean dedicated to the tourist operation in natural and cultural scenarios of the Caribbean Region in Colombia.
We are committed to providing our clients with meaningful travel experiences in the diverse scenarios available in Santa Marta and the Colombian Caribbean Region. We work hand in hand with indigenous and rural communities through tourism with social responsibility, sustainable community, generating decent and well paid employment, respecting the environment and the customs of the locals.
Expotur was founded in 2003 with local human capital and with the purpose of offering tourism experiences focused on human quality and the welfare of all stakeholders involved in tourism-related activities throughout the Colombian Caribbean Region; over the years we have grown to become one of the authorized operators of the Lost City tour with the best reputation thanks to the professionalism we profess, where we care about every detail of the entire operation to achieve the absolute satisfaction of our travelers.
Expotur is an active part of Corpoteyuna, a corporation with regional incidence that watches over the well being of the farmers and indigenous communities that live in the area where the tour to the Lost City "Teyuna" takes place. The Corporation focuses its efforts on the preservation of indigenous and rural culture, and works for the conservation of the environment inhabited by these communities in the Caribbean Region of Colombia.
In Expotur we are convinced that through a sustainable tourism operation, friendly and honest with the environment and with the communities involved, who actively participate in the entire operational chain, we can make a great contribution to the achievement of the longed-for Peace in the Colombian territory, based on the premise that it is through the generation of greater and better job opportunities that contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of these marginalized rural communities that we will be able to strengthen the affective bond necessary for the construction of a just society with equal conditions to prosper and advance positively without distinctions of class, political affinity, race or religion.
We were well taken care of and the accommodations were impressively comfortable for a hike in a remote jungle region.
Likewise, the guides were incredible, they took great care of us.
Shout out to Dennis, a local of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta from a farming family who have lived through an important era in the region's modern history. Her knowledge of the region’s history and stories of her first hand experience were impressive and captivating.
Our translator Pilar was also incredible, so warm and kind. My Spanish isn't excellent, and she always made sure that we were up-to-speed with what was going on.
Special mention to our local guide Jason, who brought a great energy to the group, was attentive to us the whole time, assisting in the kitchen and made sure we were always taken care of. He also did a great job of setting a great hiking pace and kept us motivated.
Lastly, Wilfredy (Piki) was our cook, who kept us well fed the whole trip with delicious food!
Such a great time on this trip, I recommend it for anyone visiting the area. Expotur is the way to go when visiting la Ciudad Perdida!
