Castillo San Felipe de Bajaras is the largest Spanish fortress in the New World, built between 1536 and 1657

The largest Spanish fortress in the New World, built between 1536 and 1657. After the battle of Vernón in 1741, the fortress was improved by Antonio de Arebalo. Seven batteries were installed, connected to each other by a labyrinth of ramps, tiny drawbridges, turrets, sentry boxes, cul-de-sacs and underground galleries. An interesting walk, especially with a guide who will be able to plunge us back into this tormented time.
