CINEMATECA DE BOGOTÁ
Petit Futé's opinion on CINEMATECA DE BOGOTÁ
The new cultural centre of the capital opened its doors in June 2019, the Cinemateca de Bogotá. It is part of the urban renewal policy of the city centre, and replaces the old Cinemateca Distrital, which opened in 1971, in a wing of the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán Theatre on the Séptima. This vast "cultural centre of audiovisual arts" is housed in a modern building, very close to the Candelaria. Seventh Art lovers will be surprised by such a structure, with several cinemas, an experimental room (Sala E) allowing the meeting of audiovisual arts with music, dance and theatre, a media library and a library specialized in cinema and media, exhibition rooms and audiovisual workshops, a restaurant and friendly spaces to exchange. In terms of programming, quality above all, from the Latin classics to the national and international new releases of independent and auteur films. The prices are very accessible and the sessions are numerous every day.
