Vintage plate 2018

A modern and well-organized airport, ranked three years in a row (2016, 2017 and 2018) as "Best Airport in South America" by the English organization Skytrax. It is located to the west of the city, about 15 km from the centre. It serves almost every airport in the country. Be careful, there are two terminals: Terminal 1 which serves most national and international flights. Terminal 2, or Puente Aéreo, which serves the domestic flights of Easyfly and Satena. Count less than 15 minutes between the two terminals by "Satellite Bus", a free shuttle bus that leaves every 20 minutes, from 5am to 11pm.

Terminal 1 has all the services of a major international airport: exchange offices, ATMs, restaurants, free wifi service (if it does not work well, see in cafés), car rental agencies, a luggage locker (guarda equipaje), open 24 hours a day ($15,000 per 12-hour period), and even a yellow fever vaccination centre.

Go to the centre from the airport. It is advisable to take a taxi, count $30-35,000 depending on the destination, it is safe, fast and not too expensive. Take the yellow taxis (line up and do not ignore the reelers of unofficial taxis for safety reasons). White VIP taxis are much more expensive.

For those who want to save a little money, it is possible to take a Transmilenio bus. A Tullave rechargeable card can be purchased at the airport at Gate 8 ($5,000 plus recharge, each trip costs $2,400; one card can be used for multiple people). At this door 8, get on the bus 86 which goes to the centre (not directly to the historical centre). Avoid it at rush hour if you are busy, and late at night for safety reasons, the Transmilenio will finish its service around 11pm (10pm on Sundays) anyway.

Reach the airport from the centre. Count $25-35,000 by taxi or Uber. In Transmilenio, from the Candelaria for example, go to the Universidades station, which can be reached on foot via Las Aguas station. Take line K 6 (direction Portal El Dorado) to Plaza de la Democracia or Corferias station, then take K 86. Allow a good hour's travel time.
