The village of Luosto, 130 km north-east of Rovaniemi, is about 10 km from the Pyhätunturi National Park (49 km²). It is an ideal area to soak up the arctic nature and enjoy the endless hiking trails. It is in Luosto that you can do your shopping and organize your stay, as the park is completely wild, there are a few chalets to be booked at the Naava Center. Activities alternate according to the seasons: canoeing and walking in summer and winter, downhill and cross-country trails are open from November. The forest also lends itself to excursions by sleigh (reindeer or huskies) or snowshoes.
