Its tall town, jutting out into the sea, is the symbol of Granville, a vast port in the south of the Channel. One of the city's original features is the existence of a veritable island district, none other than the Chausey Islands: the archipelago, measuring 6.5 by 12 kilometers and comprising no fewer than 52 islands at high tide, is inhabited by just a few dozen Granvillais year-round. A lively town in summer and winter, accessible by train from Paris, and named "European City of Sport 2023", Granvillais' life is punctuated by several major events, including its carnival in February, the largest in the département, and the splendid century-old "Marité" rig. A town to discover.
