A pretty commune with a jagged seafront and numerous small ports. It is linked to the municipality of Eckerö by a bridge over the sea. Here, you can take a stroll, especially to the Kattby church. This beautiful, frescoed church is dedicated to Saint Catherine. It is surrounded by a charming 12th-century cemetery. To the west of the building are sculptures dating from the Iron Age. Hammarland can be reached by bus 1 from Mariehamn to Eckerö via Hammarland, or by summer ferry (June to August) between Hammarland and Geta.
