SOURCE OF THE BLUE EYE
Petit Futé's opinion on SOURCE OF THE BLUE EYE
This 50 m deep spring (Syri i Kaltër) owes its name to the colors of the water that gushes to the surface: a bright blue-green on the edges reminiscent of the iris, dark black in the center like the pupil. Located in a protected oak and plane tree forest at the foot of the Mali i Gjerë mountain range, this spring gives rise to the Bistrica River, which flows for 25 km to Saranda. Once a hunting and fishing reserve for the communist elite, the area now attracts people who like to take selfies and/or take an invigorating swim.
