The main Orthodox church in central Albania. Completed in 2014, it boasts a beautiful new iconostasis.
This Orthodox cathedral (Katedralja Shën Dhimitri) was consecrated in 2014. Seat of the metropolis (bishopric) of Berat and Vlora, it occupies the site of a church of the eighteenth century destroyed after the assassination by the communist authorities of Kristofor (1881-1958), primate of the Albanian Church from Berat. This neo-Byzantine building is in the form of an inscribed cross surmounted by a large dome and opens with two bell towers 22 m high. Beautiful iconostasis.
