This micro-city located 100 miles from Valdez and close to Glennalen is a convenient spot on the Richardson Highway. Very close to the Klutina River, which comes close to the Copper River, some are also there for fishing. Copper Center developed during the gold rush when a Andrew Holman installed a camp to supply gold seekers to the Klondike. This was also the only telegraph position between Valdez and Fairbanks. A tiny museum, with free entrance, is on the road and tells the gold rush in the region.
