Carnon is a small seaside resort attached to the municipality of Mauguio. Particularly frequented by Montpellier's inhabitants because of its proximity, the city is also invaded by tourists during the summer months. They all come to enjoy its long wild beach, the Petit-Travers, its leisure activities and its summer shops. Built in the 1970s, it now boasts a relatively large port with 700 berths, succeeding the former fishing port, the starting point for cruises on the Canal du Rhône à Sète.
