The city of Treinta y Tres, located on the banks of the Olimar River, is the capital of the department of the same name and has a population of about 26,000. Its cobbled and shaded streets are pleasant, but despite this the town lacks interest. During Holy Week, El Olimar is one of the most important folkloric festivals in the country, which is not to be missed if you are in the area at that time. Among the cultural sites to visit are the Obelisco a los Fundadores, the Dionisio Díaz Monument, the San José Obrero Parish Church and the Agustin Araujo Art Museum. For nature lovers, the Laguna Merín and the Quebrada de los Cuervos are less than two hours from the city.
