Small city located near the mouth of the Uruguay River, facing the delta of the Parana River in Argentina. It has a population of just over 9,000 and is best known for its river port, which is one of the most important in the country, capable of handling transatlantic cargo as well as goods from Bolivia and Paraguay. In addition to its port activity, Nueva Palmira offers various tourist attractions such as its beaches and museums. Among the sites of interest are its sundial, the Fuente de los Españoles, the wreck of the Eolo (an old ship that connected the city to Montevideo) and the General Flores wharf.
