Odawara is a quiet town that was for a long time a strategic military site on the Tokaido route. It was also a crossing point for pilgrims to Mount Oyama. Located at the mouth of the Sakawa River, it overlooks Sagami Bay and remains the main access route to Hakone. It can be reached from Tokyo in 45 minutes. Its main tourist attraction remains the medieval castle, located not far from the station. Most tourists only stop there, but if you take the time to walk around the town, you will discover a pleasant place with a rich history, and where you can eat well thanks to the seafood and fish coming straight from the port.
