This villa was offered to the imperial family in 1872. It actually originated from the feudal residence in Edo where it was dismantled and rebuilt in 1898 in Nikko to become the Tamozawa Villa. It has 106 rooms, including those occupied by the imperial family, 23, and the others by servants. It was enlarged at various times, and several architectural styles can be admired here. A beautiful garden, with a cherry tree four hundred years old, is perfect for a visit.
