This is a rather impressive collection of Western art, from the Renaissance to the 20th century, in a building built by Le Corbusier in 1959. It houses the stunning collection of Kōjirō Matsukata (1865-1950) and includes paintings by Courbet, Delacroix, Pissarro, Cézanne, Gauguin, Monet, Cottet, Renoir, etc. as well as sculptures by Rodin, Bourdelle and Maillol. For some, this museum is simply Orsay Museum surrounded by a large park!

Incontournable, même si l'on ne va pas au Japon pour voir de l'art occidental. Superbe collection, par contre pas le bâtiment le plus réussi du Corbusier. Profiter d'être à Ueno pour voir les pandas et le musée national...

It is Orsay surrounded by a beautiful park.
Fantastic collections of works of the 19th century French, without gap none. All major artists are represented by Rodin and Renoir via Puvis de Chavanne, Caillebote, Courbet, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Delacroix and Ingres and dozens of others. Too rich!
IMPOSING, deserves a is locked up good 3 hours for a good impregnation.
