MEIKYOKU KISSA LION

Of all Tokyo's theme cafés, this is the most historic. The meikyoku kissa Lion, where you come to listen to classical music, has been around since 1926. And make no mistake about it, the music isn't just background music to conversations, it's central here. In fact, talking is strongly discouraged, and tables are turned towards the 3-meter-high loudspeakers, majestic as church organs. Everything here calls for reverie and listening to the greatest classics. The menu is limited; you come to listen. A fascinating place.
