Travel Guide Spitzkoppe

This imposing block of granite of volcanic origin, with a very pointed high peak (1,728 m), surprises in the middle of the surrounding desert plains... and offers a fascinating palette of colours at sunrise and sunset. For sports enthusiasts, this inselberg was first climbed in 1946 and since then many Namibian and South African mountaineers have been competing against it, but don't try the adventure alone! There are three peaks: the highest is the Gross Spitzkoppe, the second peak reaching 1,572 m is the Klein Spitzkoppe, and finally Mount Pondok is home to the "Bushman's Paradise".
