Located at 1550 m above sea level, Chrea is the first ski resort created by the French in Algeria. During the colonial period, it quickly became a holiday resort for snow, which can extend from December to March. Its ski club allowed skiers to take the few trails and accessible by a lift. The station, which has suffered greatly from terrorism, has sunk for years into oblivion. The ski lift no longer works, the ski club doesn't appear in activity and the track is neglected but the pretty chalets have allowed the site to keep its charm of yesteryear. The station is again busy on weekends, especially since the cable car was repaired. When the first snowfall covers the massif of a beautiful white coat, the track is invaded by the children who take part in the joys of the luge.Far from the Mitidja hot heat, the village is appreciated in summer for its freshness. The panorama on the massif, the surrounding forests and the Mitidja are breathtaking. In clear time, you can see the sea, Mount Chenoua, and a little mound in the distance that is no other than the Tomb of the Christian. The lack of tourist and leisure infrastructures gives the site a certain authenticity and charm; However, there is still a hotel or hostel where it would be possible to spend one night or two comfortably. Also discover the ecomuseum.
