The peninsula of Sidi-Fredj (ex-Sidi-Ferruch) belongs to the commune of Staoueli. It is here that the landing of the French colonial expedition commanded by General Bourmont took place on June 14, 1830, and that of the Americans, on the night of November 8, 1942.Almost the entire city is currently under construction, and major restoration work has been undertaken. Many establishments, including the thalassotherapy center, are therefore closed for work. We have listed here those that are still open. With its beaches, its small marina, its yacht club, its restaurants, its hotels, its cafes, its cabaret, its bar, the seaside resort of Sidi-Fredj has always been a place of vacations and walks very appreciated by Algerians and should be even more so after these restoration works. The beautiful architectural complex, designed in the 1970s by the architect Fernand Pouillon, is inspired by the traditional style and Moorish buildings: vaults, corbels supported by buttresses, patios, moucharabieh, etc.. The old fort was converted into an amphitheater and hosts many shows in the summer.
