Rising to 933 m, this mountain dominates Lugano. Like many other peaks in the region, it offers magnificent panoramic views of the Lake Lugano basin, San Salvatore, Monte San Giorgio and the Bernese and Valais Alps. The Monte Brè region is said to be the sunniest part of the country. Winter-blooming Christmas roses, found only in the southern part of Europe, grow here. At the summit, there are restaurants with terraces and a starting point for hikes, including the excursion to the pretty village of Brè (15-minute walk).Brè, a picturesque rural village, is nicknamed the "artists' village" because of the many artists who lived here. In the heart of this romantic village, an art trail known as the "Art Trail" features works by internationally renowned artists. The Wilhelm Schmid Museum, nestled in the house where he lived (1892-1971), houses a fine collection of works by the painter considered in Switzerland to be the precursor of the new objectivity. And to top it all off, there's no shortage of grotti with a view!
