Port of call on the tin route, a strategic position during the Hundred Years' War, Port-Bail (which some still spell Portbail) had its heyday in the Middle Ages and before the arrival of the railroad. Today, Portbail is a haven of peace for those seeking serenity, with its small anchorage port and its magnificent 13-arched bridge. Quieter than its neighbor Barneville-Carteret, it completes the landscape of the Côte des Isles with charm. The small town is also a theater, festivals and festivals to color the landscape of the Cotentin. About 1,600 inhabitants live here, and many more in summer.
