The Goms valley takes us deep into German-speaking Switzerland. Gletsch is the last Valais village on the Rhône before the canton of Uri. But it's also one of the cradles of tourism in the Alps. In 1830, the first inn was built here, followed 150 years ago by the great Glacier du Rhône and Belvédère hotels on the pass roads. There's hardly another place in the Goms valley that offers so much to see in such a small space. Gletsch means "glacier". In the immediate vicinity, you'll be able to admire this natural phenomenon with the Rhône glacier, which led to the entire site being declared a monument of national importance. The Gletsch ski area boasts 6 lifts, 85 km of downhill slopes and 5 km of cross-country trails. It's also a family resort with a special welcome for children.
