VILLA AND ROMAN MOSAICS FROM ORBE-BOSCÉAZ
Destroyed during invasions, this Roman villa in Boscéaz served as a career in the Middle Ages and there is no infrastructure left. Nine mosaics were discovered from the first in the th century. They form a unique set in Switzerland and are set in four houses. Originally they were in a large Roman villa built around 160 metres. and abandoned towards 270. The owner bathed visibly in opulence since his richly decorated house lacked comfort: kitchen, rooms overlooking internal courtyards, baths, sewers, heating system on the ground, latrines and a large terrace overlooking the plain. The eight preserved mosaics, adorned with the floor of the villa, show a pretty work: four are geometric motifs in black and white, the others are figurative. One can have fun to recognize the labyrinth of the Minotaure, Ulysses calling Achille to battle, the deities symbols of the seven planets, Ariadne abandoning Ariane, etc.
