Yverdon-les-Bains has been renowned for the quality of its thermal water for one thousand five hundred years and benefits from the presence of sulphurous springs which rise from the earth at 29°C. Its thermal baths and monitoring facilities for elite athletes attract tourists and curists. The presence of 45 Neolithic menhirs, a medieval castle built by the House of Savoy and a well-preserved historic town centre are all assets. In addition, there is an exceptional natural heritage with the Grande Cariçaie reserve, the largest lake marsh in Switzerland, and the 40 km of shoreline, divided into beaches and green spaces, along the lake between Yverdon-les-Bains and Morat.
