This Irish pub was opened in 2014 by three friends from hotel school who managed to make it a nice and friendly place in the centre of Montreux. The locals and the students have their habits there. The large veranda with a breathtaking view of Lake Geneva and its soothing calm seduce people passing through. You can eat and drink well and cheaply, which is rare in Montreux. All sporting events, concerts, darts, curry and karaoke on Thursdays and weekends are broadcast on the big screen: fun and a good atmosphere!

This is the restaurant at the sumptuous Majestic. Le 45 offers excellent seasonal and market cuisine facing the lake, in a large panoramic glass room, high ceiling and very pleasant . You have a wide choice of affordable dishes, and other very refined ones, such as quail stuffed with duck foie gras, marron glacé and butternut squash, or glazed calf sweetbread with grated truffles... And to finish with a subtle note, the chocolate dome "Majestic", praline and feuillantine. Impeccable service in an exceptional and very elegant setting.

It is Mario Di Sessa who orchestrates this neighbourhood address where you have a very pleasant time. You are at the local bistro, in the restaurant or bar to enjoy Italian or Swiss cuisine generously concocted by the chef. The house works exclusively with fresh products. After the morning delivery of the vegetables Mario takes his place behind the stove. A successful reconversion for this former plumber who worked in theatre, singing, politics and gardening before expressing his passion for cooking here.

All the Swiss in the region know this prestigious gastronomic address, located in the charming village of Brent, on the heights of Montreux. Since 2011, Stéphane Décotterd concocts divine dishes based on local products (2 Michelin stars). The puff pastry of frogs' legs with tuberous chervil, black truffles, makes our mouth water. When the Biscôme clementine flavoured with mountain honey arrives, our gaze says a lot about our delicacy! A refined setting in a building of character and a marvellous terrace.

The Museum is an institution offering the full range of unmissable Swiss specialties. Admittedly, it's not the best value for money in town, but you'll enjoy it in a Vaudois atmosphere. The setting is pretty and rustic, with red and white gingham tablecloths for the meat specialties, such as beef tenderloin heart fondue, charbonnade and entrecôte (from 200 to 500 g!), all served with the cellar's gratin, made with ten kinds of cheese. A real treat. The Charbonnade is excellent, and the service is good.

Au Parc offers a good Italian cuisine, with all the local specialities such as pizzas, tartars and vitello. The cuisine is always in season, and there are also some originalities such as crostinis with pan-fried foie gras, gnocchi with crayfish and Armagnac or the "minute" tagliolini with truffle cream. The place is warm, perhaps a little noisy as it can attract so many people... And even if the restaurant is large, it is still better to book on weekend evenings!

Run by the Wong family, originally from Hong Kong, Fai Wong offers a wide range of à la carte dishes, including duck served in seven variations: lacquered, with bamboo shoots, with orange... Traditional Chinese fondue is also served, with shrimp, squid, surimi, beef, chicken, bacon, ravioli, mushrooms, cabbage and tofu. The superb antique Chinese-style decor, entirely handmade, may appear opulent, but it blends well with the space and plunges you straight into the atmosphere. The terrace is open in summer.

Undoubtedly one of the most famous silhouettes in the world, Chillon Castle is a symbol of Switzerland, a beautiful illustration of the country through the harmony of its forms (25 building bodies) and the impression of solidity and balance that emerges. A fortress on the water, a real lock overlooking the old Italian road, a necessary passage - because of the narrowness of the area - on the north-south axis, it is also, facing the lake, a ducal residence. It is difficult to date this stronghold precisely, but the presence of a Roman post seems to be attested to by coins and debris found on the site. Throughout the Middle Ages, the castle was the seat of the powerful Counts of Savoy, who settled in the region.

In 1536, Chillon was recovered by the Bernese bailiffs, who first made it their residence, before moving to Vevey in the 18th century. As the taste for life in society spread, they began to get bored within these lonely walls. Bern took pity on its bailiffs and bought the Tavel house in Vevey to make it their residence. It is then a question of shaving Chillon but, fortunately, it is too expensive! We will therefore use its cellars and attics, the courtroom will become a mill, a press will be installed in Count Pierre's room... Finally, the French Revolution will bring about the fall of Bern.

In 1798, the country of Vaud was liberated from Bernese control and, since then, Chillon has belonged to the canton of Vaud.

In the Romantic era, Chillon Castle became famous for the countless stories of writers such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Shelley, Victor Hugo, Alexandre Dumas and, above all, Byron. The latter, having fallen in love with a historical episode relating to the imprisonment of Genevois Bonivard in the 16th century, dedicated his famous poem Le Prisonnier de Chillon (The prisonner of Chillon, 1816) to him. Painters, including William Turner and Gustave Courbet, also contributed to Chillon's fame.

This Italian restaurant of more than 50 years of existence serves very good pasta and pizza as well as magnificent seafood platters (from November to March). The menu varies according to the season. The décor is rather contemporary, with beige leather seats and leopard print benches. This establishment has been able to federate all types of public: multi-generational atmospheres where locals as well as tourists or passing stars meet. Young and efficient service, a good address, booking is highly recommended. It is also a hotel just a stone's throw from the lake.

This restaurant has a very good reputation. Departure for Iran and Iranian gastronomy, which we're discovering as we don't always get to enjoy it on a trip to Iran, apart from the kebabs offered mainly in local restaurants. This establishment boasts a rich menu of refined Oriental cuisine, including delicious Lebanese mezze, in a refined Moroccan-inspired setting. Set in front of the Montreux promenade, the terrace is a delight in summer. On the second floor of the Palais, numerous exhibitions are held each year.
