LE CARRÉ

Belgian restaurant
4.3/5
11 reviews

Le Carré takes its name from its magnificent terrace (square, of course!) which overlooks the lake and offers you a panoramic view of all the surroundings. In addition to this, we especially appreciate the concept of this place which unites on one side the coffee and tea room area throughout the day, on the other side the brasserie open for lunch and dinner and, just below, the cocktail bar. The brewery's dishes are Belgian-inspired (Flemish carbonnade, fried mussels or waffles), with good beers too. To top it all off, the welcome is charming.

LES TROIS SIFFLETS

World cuisine restaurant
5/5

A traditional restaurant that proves you can be rustic and still have style! Over a crust or fondue (served with a military march and Swiss flag... be prepared to hear military music more than once in the evening!), customers of all ages gather at Les Trois Sifflets. It's said that the name of this pint refers to the three whistles that the first manager heard every day at 11 a.m.: the train, the boat and then his own, to warn his wife and daughters that it was time to get cooking!

LE MAZOT

World cuisine restaurant
4/5

A mazot is a miniature chalet, often the annex to a larger cottage. So, this traditional bistroquet, all wood and length, with chairs on one side and benches on the other, seems to have come straight down from the mountains. The small windows give the illusion of being in an alpine chalet, with the old coffee grinders, cheese churns... In this rustic setting, regulars come mainly for the meat, including the famous horse steak with mazot sauce, but also for cheese dishes such as the excellent röstis.

ZE FORK ON THE WATER

World cuisine restaurant €€
4.9/5
17 reviews

A very typical address run by a group of efficient and friendly jokers. The terrace overlooks Quai Perdonnet, the lake and, of course, the giant fork planted in the water that gives the restaurant its name and is the emblem of Vevey. This fork in front of the Alimentarium certainly inspires the chef, who offers an original cuisine with masterful flavors and meticulous presentation. It's beautiful and it's good from starter to dessert. Lovely terrace and beautiful interior. Attentive service.

ALADIN

In Vevey's pedestrian street, the Aladin restaurant is a well-known address among local residents. In a magnificent setting worthy of the Arabian Nights, Ahmad Bahadli has been serving Moroccan, Lebanese and even Iraqi specialities for twelve years. By day, the atmosphere is friendly and sunny. In the evening, candles on the tables make for a more intimate atmosphere. After a starter of hummus and couscous or tagine, there's nothing better than settling down on a pouffe with your hookah and enjoying a light digestion.

LE SYRIEN

Near and Middle East cuisine restaurant
4/5

An excellent kebab! Once in Scanavin Square, you can't miss the little white Syrian tent. Set up here in both winter and summer, it adjoins the restaurant's small dining room. Inside, the warm welcome of manager Ahmad Badawi, the spices and chichas transport us to the Middle East. Excellent value for money. For dessert, you'll be spoilt for choice, as the display case abounds with pastries, not forgetting to accompany them with the traditional glass of mint tea that we're so pleased to enjoy in the Middle East.

Looking for the atmosphere of a pinte vaudoise? This is the real neighborhood bistro, with no fuss but high standards when it comes to the quality of the food. The Café Central, run by chef Nocente and his wife Stefania, prepares delicious southern Italian specialities: orecchiette with cime di rapa and fresh fennel sausage, fresh tuna meatballs stuffed with caciocavallo and a tiramisu from the competition's mamma, all enjoyed behind lace curtains and under tulip shades. Authentic and self-assured!

Built in a former chapel, the café-restaurant de la Valsainte opened its doors in 1890. This venerable bistro in the heart of the old town welcomes both regulars and visiting fans of traditional cuisine. Typical Vaud brasserie fare, but also delicious Lake Geneva perch fillets, old-fashioned dishes such as calf's head with vinaigrette, pig's trotters in Madeira, old-fashioned veal kidneys... Not to be missed: an amusing bowling alley at the back of the bistro.

This is where Jean-Jacques Rousseau stayed in 1731. From its window, it could see Madame de Warens' house… an historic side that brings charm to this very simple establishment. It's a genuine, authentic, rustic pinte, where you eat well, including "Rousseau Way" or meldue.
