With a surface area of 3,800 ha, the commune of Puidoux is the largest in the district of Lavaux. It spreads out over areas of vineyards near Treytorrens and Dézaley, in the countryside near Cremières and on the slopes of Mont-Pèlerin. Puidoux is also the only Vaudois village in the plain to have a lake in its entirety: the lake of Bret. Its chapel and the Marsens tower (built by the bishop of Lausanne around the 12th century and which would have served as a refuge for the monks who were clearing the area) are historic monuments, while Crêt-Bérard and its small cloister, transformed into conference rooms, only date from 1953.
