Always a classic base of ultra-fresh products, but which, once passed through the hands of the chefs, gives a lively and delicate cuisine, such as the Tasty salmon based on fresh salmon and cucumber. A large and very luminous through room which opens onto a pleasant and large terrace. In a design and arty brasserie style, Les Lauriers is not a restaurant like any other! It leaves room for artists who come to enliven the place with their works and allows the residents of the EMS (Etablissement Médico-Social) to taste the brasserie's cuisine. In this generous atmosphere, a new cuisine is served with more than 300 different dishes of the day each year and suggestions that are in keeping with events and reflect the flavours of the world.

It is one of the emblematic restaurants of the Place du Marché. La Bourse has the charm of the great Parisian brasseries. Style, with its attentive waiters, bright rooms separated by vaults, a brasserie and, in the basement, superb 18th century cellars which house a carnotzet where raclette, fondues and pierrades are served, as well as pizzas. La Bourse also has a fine French brasserie menu with entrecote and home-made chips, sauerkraut and seafood in season, and shallot mitre.

The establishment is an institution: difficult to miss during your exploration of the old town. Dating from 1874, it is one of the oldest bistros in Geneva. Did you know that, in the 15th century, its back door gave access to a brothel, located in the rue Chausse Coqs, then known as rue Chausse Cul? The setting is worth a look. Some customers, after having been slutty or not, left their portrait on the walls. Try one of the Swiss specialties: the roesti, or a good entrecote or steak tartare.

In the center of Geneva, the restaurant l'Odéon offers Swiss and French brasserie cuisine in a wood-panelled setting reminiscent of a typical old bistro. Passionate about their craft, chef Benjamin Garin and his team work on products and cooking techniques with rigor and all the creativity inherited from their know-how. Here, the cuisine is a blend of Geneva's terroir and the great tradition of the French brasserie, with a few original touches such as mini-burgers. A beautiful restaurant with a theatrical feel: coffered ceiling, velvet décor, lamps on every table and retro banquette seating. Just a stone's throw from the station, La Bagatelle is open every day with continuous service. The brasserie offers a cosy, modern setting with huge pop-art portraits adorning the walls, breaking with the more conventional atmosphere of the establishment. The house specialty is entrecôte with Bagatelle butter. The range of desserts is utterly appetizing... and not disappointing!

Adjacent to the Grand Théâtre and the Geneva Conservatory of Music, it is ideally located on the Place Neuve. The Café Lyrique is one of the oldest restaurants in Geneva, where artists, bankers, lawyers and even politicians meet, depending on the time of day. In a neo-classical building, the interior is reminiscent of the Parisian bistros of yesteryear with mouldings and painted medallions of illustrious classical musicians. Traditional French cuisine is revisited twice a year to make way for new products.

It's a charming little neighborhood bistro, a place for regulars who come in the morning for their coffee, or a place to discover. Mr. Louvier is the chef at Le P'tit Carougeois, serving delicious perch fillets with homemade fries. The dishes are simple, traditional and regional, and there's a great menu for meat lovers. Two small terraces on the street or garden side await customers. Open on Saturday evenings in November and December during Carouge's many events.

The Genevans like to come and enjoy a good glass of ice cream as soon as the first rays of sunshine in May warm up the Place du Bourg du Four. Known for its large terrace, this brand offers a small restaurant serving salads, sandwiches, focacciasand toast for lunch. It is also a good address for a plate of pasta with a choice of spaghetti carbonara with a sauce made according to the rules of the art, from penne to salmon. An envious place for a break in the old town and from here you can even see the top of the water jet!
