Just a few kilometers south of Altstätten is the pretty village of Eichberg. Situated on a vine-covered hillside, the township is not lacking in character and offers beautiful views of the surrounding mountain ranges. On-site activities, however, are limited. There is, however, the Gnadenhof zoo, a voluntary shelter for over a hundred abandoned animals. Although the zoo is not open year-round due to lack of funds, it regularly organizes open days at its stables. In the town center, a handful of bars, restaurants and accommodation are available. Check with the town hall before you leave.
