Italian cuisine restaurant with terrace and cellar in a historical setting with a beautiful view of the Rhine in Basel.

The famous Grand Hotel des Trois Rois has several restaurants and this is the one! Italian gastronomy enthusiasts press Donati for its table, one of Basel's most famous addresses. Inside the large historic building you will find a magnificent room where you will be welcomed with refined service. View on the Rhine for some tables and on the beautiful summer terrace. On the plate, you'll be served tournedos and entrects, the star of the fish - the black bass - and desserts of the famous chariot. A day map, always renewed, is offered all year round. The house is also famous for its excellent cellar.

Wir feierten heute den 70igsten Geburtstag unseres Vaters bei Chez Donati. Schon lange hatte dieser den Wunsch, dort mal im Kreise der Familie zu speisen. Das Essen und der Service waren hervorragend. Die Angestellten waren in puncto Aufmerksamkeit nicht zu übertreffen – so etwas, findet man heute nur noch selten. Die Speisen noch echte italienische Lebenskunst! Leider fand unser Abend aufgrund eines familiären Notfalls ein abruptes Ende, auf welches uns der Geschäftsführer den gesamten Abend spendierte. Wir waren allesamt sprachlos über die Grosszügigkeit und werden ganz bestimmt wieder kommen, um den Abend nachzuholen. Ganz herzlichen Dank ans gesamte Team. So viel Herz ist heutzutage nicht selbstverständlich!

Wieder einmal im Donati, diesmal unter der Fuehrung, des aeusserst gutaussehenden, jungen, einfuehlsamen Patron Davide.Essen wie immer hervorragend, haette etwas waermer sein koennen.Davide fuehrt und bedient hervorragend.Bravissimo Davide.

Food is delicious, "solid" good. Very attentive service. The only downside was getting a grappa on the bill, which we didn't order. So check before you pay.
We visited on Saturday night, means it was quite crowded and very very noisy. Unfortunately, as a result it was hard to maintain conversation with my partner, as we could hardly hear each other.
