Seasonal cuisine in a historic restaurant just a stone's throw from the University of Basel.
This traditional restaurant in the old town, a stone's throw from the university, has been around for over a century. Swiss specialties take pride of place in the restaurant's stylish, retro decor, where wood is everywhere. The à la carte menu includes kutteln (veal offal) served in sauce with potatoes. Students often have salads (served in large bowls). A seasonal menu is also available (asparagus, mussels, etc.). A good address with an incredibly varied clientele. Reservations recommended.

Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich und zackig. Das essen war gut. Zu den preisen kann ich nicht viel sagen. Ich wurde eingeladen. Es war zu laut und der Termin Druck das der Tisch wieder frei werden muss war spürbar, auch wenn nichts gesagt wurde.

Intérieur klassische Beiz, angenehm.Essen:Vorzüglich, v.a.die Rösti ist unübertroffen , aber alles auf der Speisekarte ist wirklich sehr gut.

My brother and I stopped by in this cozy restaurant and hotel. We enjoyed a warm coffee, a local cider, and the lovely atmosphere. As more people came inside, all were greeted with friendly “hellos” and made to feel welcome. We had plenty of privacy, yet still felt part of the friendly crowd. The wait staff was attentive and friendly, eager to provide excellent service. Next time I’m going to try their trout
