This small village of just under 200 inhabitants is located at an altitude of 1,745 meters above sea level, in the Orient Valley, overlooking the right bank of the Valira d'Orient: from this height, one can enjoy marvelous views. The Ransol valley as a whole was, during the 17th and 19th centuries, a major iron ore mining area, especially at the Collada dels Meners, located at the bottom of the valley. This same valley is now a protected natural area of 2,300 hectares. Ransol has a restored Romanesque church (even of pre-Romanesque origin) and several typical Andorran old houses.
