Engolasters, a former farming village, is not a typical town as one might imagine. Here, there are no small shops, squares or cobbled streets: like many Andorran towns, it is a succession of recent, middle-class houses, all in keeping with the Principality's traditional architecture. The houses facing the valley have a view over Escaldes-Engordany. Here you can wander around the Engolasters lake, one of the largest and most beautiful in Andorra (800 m by 300 m). Legend has it that a village was buried under its waters following a terrible storm that hit the region in the past
