Designed by the architect Jean Michel Ruols and open since 1994, the largest thermal spa in southern Europe, with its avant-garde architecture and mineral-related elements, is located in Escaldes-Engordany and is called Caldea. If the resort enjoys an international reputation and can justify a stay in the Principality on its own, it is most certainly for its 30,000 m² entirely dedicated to wellness, but also for its extensive range of treatments. Original and innovative, combining health, well-being and entertainment, Caldea's thermal spa uses water that gushes out naturally at 70°C and is particularly rich in sulphur and other minerals such as sodium, sulphate and calcium, making it a choice ingredient for treating and soothing all kinds of pain. It has healing, decongestant and anti-allergic properties.

The Caldea complex is divided into four sets of facilities (Thermoludique, Origens, Likids and Inúu). The first is the Thermoludic area where, in addition to a huge indoor thermal water lagoon (32-34°C), the benefits of water are distilled in all its forms (ice, steam, cold water and hot water under pressure) in an atmosphere suitable for the whole family. There is also all the equipment for fitness and aqua-massage, saunas with relaxing light or Wood's light with negative ions, Indo-Roman, Icelandic and Sirocco baths, as well as an outdoor area with mountain views.

The second area of Caldea, called Origens, is dedicated to boosting your energy. There are a multitude of themed sensory pools such as the amazing and exfoliating grapefruit bath, but also Aztec baths with stones that stimulate the arch of the foot and improve circulation. This invigorating experience can be extended to the steam rooms and saunas, before lingering in the outdoor whirlpools.

Finally, for parents who would like to introduce their children to the spa, Caldea has recently expanded its offer by proposing a relaxation area dedicated to children aged 3 to 8: LIKIDS is a spa adapted to the youngest, combining entertainment and relaxation. Guided by professionals, they will be introduced, through a range of fun activities, to the soothing virtues of the thermal waters, splashing around in the bubbling baths and shallow pools. A word of advice: avoid peak periods and times.
