The entrance to the town of Dosso is marked by a huge baobab, one of the few specimens found on the sandstone plateaus in the south of the country. A text from a school textbook for Niger schoolchildren describes this almost comical tree: the town of Dosso is the home of the Zerma, with the palace of Djermakoye, the head of the province who sometimes agrees to have it visited: admire the hausa architecture, the facade with painted floral motifs and interior colonnades supporting the hausa vaults. A beautiful, modern architectural ensemble on the main road houses the handicraft centre offering local crafts including woven blankets. Dosso is mainly a crossroads to Benin by passing to the region of Dendi, the southern tip of the Niger where the city of Gaya lies on the river. Many inhabitants of the region and the capital take the asphalted road in Gaya to reach the market of Malanville in Benin. It contains all the cheaper manufactured products than in Niger from the port of Cotonou. The Dendi is the southernmost area, unique in Niger by its tropical climate: prolonged rainy season with more than 800 mm of water per year, almost lush vegetation and tropical crops such as fruits and tubers. You will not need to miss the partial reservation of the Faune fauna, the palace of the head of the province of Dosso and the Artisan Village and the Regional Museum of Dosso.
