CAMPEMENT KAREY KOPTO ET CAMPEMENT BOUMBA

Camping €€

The Ecopas projects (French cooperation) and Point Africa financed two tourist camps in the villages of Tondi Kopto and Boumba, near the river in Part W, as a boundary of the national park. Access to these villages is done more by the river (from Niamey or the W Park), by canoe, than by the track. But it's also feasible in the 4 x 4 vehicle, from Niamey to Birni N'Gaouré (104 km), and then taking south the piste trail to Falmey, Sakkala and Zoukwara, until Tondi Kopto. Count about 4 hours a day and return by Kollo in 3 hours 30. These tourist camps are very simple, equipped with banco huts with mosquito beds. The villagers who form the "tourist staff" are somewhat invasive, but novice, and gradually learn to receive tourists.

From the campsite of Tondi Kopto, you can make excursions by canoe around a small island whose access, although located in the park, does not require authorisation. At the forest station, you can also rent a motorboat and walk in the park, or even a fisherman if you are accompanied by an armed guide (possible protection against the cats). The Campement camp is located at the mouth of the Mekrou, which can be traced to a canoe partly from December to January.
