Perched in the Mugan Mountains, the village of Jalilabad is located in one of the most picturesque regions in the south of the country. Known for its unique natural sites in the country (thanks to exceptional microclimate) and its rich historical and cultural heritage, this region is also famous for its centuries-old! The oldest man in the world, Shirali Muslumov, who died at the age of 168 in 1975, was originally from Jalilabad. He was hounding in this race to longevity by Mahmud Vilayet, who died at 150 in 1958, after a life spent in the mountains of Mugan. The village itself is not exceptional and has suffered greatly from the earthquake of 1998 that damaged the entire region. The landscapes are magnificent, with snow summits, valleys and large meadows of altitude, as many promises of superb hikes.
